the happy meal - the cause of our global crisis?

the revelation hit me several years ago. more and more americans are waking up to it. many more need to wake up and quickly in order to save humanity and mother earth.

our choices and our beliefs have led to a crisis that is heading for catastrophe and human extinction.

how great the golden arches (McDonalds) looks to kids and adults alike. a convenient, quick and healthy (yeah right!) and cheap meal - the great american burger for 99 cents! even better one can get their kid a happy meal for $4 which includes a plastic prize and the 99 cents burger. On the surface this looks great - it's cheap, you get your fill and your kid gets a cool toy.
I am here to tell you it's not.

i'm here to wake you up.

not only are we destroying our earth by supporting mcdonalds & fast food restaurants but we are destroying our own health & your childrens.

Here's the deal on fast foods effect on planet earth

I was reading a book called eMyth by a business guru stating that McDonalds was a great example of a business system that works. The author, which escapes me at this moment, says McDonalds owns more real estate than any organization in the world - including the chatholic church. they account for 10% of restaurant business world wide and have made many people rich. a great model and company the author states.

the american dream, right?

wrong!!! this america dream has turned into the america's and the planets worst nightmare. I don't know how much this author got paid off by Mcdonalds (or if he even got paid off) to include their model but I observe something very different. a corporation driven by corporate greed who is care-less with our earth and its resources - which is not even theirs. We Humans are stewards on planet earth and we should start to act like we are. We have to learn to share and not claim that the world is mine...It's not! It's all of ours. We are all in this together!!! It's not about mine, mine, mine. It's about us and ours and sharing, just like we teach our children. We can share with children so why can't we share with each other?

Back to fast food and what it is doing to our precious planet. Here is a list of effects we are experiencing from the fast food nightmare:

• a 1996 report Agricultural report noted that 72 acres of rainforest are destroyed every minute.
  most of this deforestation is being done by improverished people working for multinational corporations (fast food beef companies) to clear the way to grow beef for export to the United States.
• This 38 million acres per your loss will wipe out the entire world rainforest in our children's lifetime - if it continues at this pace.
• The United States imports 200 million pounds of beef every year from South American countries such as Costa Rico, El Salavador, Nicaragua and Guatemala.
  The American meal habit has provided an economic boom for multinational ranchers and is the primary reason behind deforestation.
• Corporate greed and carelessness for mother earth has put us in deep trouble
  loss of drinkable groundwater
• loss of topsoil - which is already turning one of the most important resources for oxygen in our world into a wasteland
• just imagine the waste that these companies produce. This is mind-boggling.

Here's the deal on fast foods effect on humans's health

Not only is fast food destroying our rainforest, watercycle and destroying our species, but they are causing havoc in the human body. Consider this:

• Over 55% of all antibiotics manufactured in the US are put into animals or animal feed - which goes right into you. Livestock is now a vast breeding ground for antibiotic resistant organisms.
• Europe has banned American meat products grown with antibiotics.
• 90 percent of all staph infections are now resistant to pencillin. Back in 1960 there were only 13%.
• Since the introduction of McDonalds and Burger King in China, their heart disease rates have soared. China is now starting to ban them in certain areas.
• Heat disease & cancer have been tied to eating red meat on a consistent basis
  The hormones that are injected into cows are transferred to you through consumption of that burger. These hormones are making our children reach puberty much quicker (2 - 5 years earlier) and have been linked to breast and other types of cancer.

Next time you pass a McDonalds or Burger King, I recommend you do what the Penguins in the movie Madagascar did; "Smile and wave, Smile and wave." and bring your breakfast or lunch with you. Believe it or not, this may be the most important decision of the day! that 99 cents burger might just be the difference in our quest to turn things around on planet earth.
